Shawn Benner, PhD, is Associate Dean in the College of Innovation and Design and the Director of the Human-Environment Systems Program at Boise State University.

Dr. Benner has more than 25 years of experience in the environmental field, with an emphasis in hydrologic sciences. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and has been cited 6000 times. He has received more than 24 million dollars from competitive national funding agencies and works closely with local organizations to help solve community challenges.  

 

Benner was an educator for 15 years, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in hydrologic and environmental sciences. He is the founding Director of the Human-Environment Systems Program, which strives to find collaborative solutions to our most difficult environmental challenges.  

 

Benner has a BA in Geology from Colorado College, an MS in Geology from the University of Montana, and a PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Waterloo.
